
Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC)
RTC is a lay training centre of the Presbyterian
Church of Ghana (PCG) that is ecumenically oriented
in its programmes and structure. The Centre was
established in 1899 and it is situated at
Abetifi-Kwahu at the highest habitable point in
Ghana (about 700 metres or 2080 feet above sea
level).
The Centre is committed to the renewal of the
Church, ecumenical solidarity and programmes
collaboration. RTC has activities and programmes
that range from Interfaith Dialogue, Lay Training,
Family Counseling, Evangelism, Health and Healing
especially HIV and AIDS, Peace Building and Conflict
Resolution. Others include, Inter Cultural Bible
Reading and Contextual Bible Studies (CBS).
RTC has over the years become a converging place for
study, worship, research, dialogue and reflection.
It is also a place of comfort for retreats,
reflections on issues of religious, social,
political and economic in nature. In brief, it is a
Centre for learning that places emphasis on the
vocation and ministry of the laity in the world. It
is therefore a meeting point for the Church and the
World. RTC also provides a unique and a well
nurtured environment for Christians to listen to
what God is saying to them through the events of the
world.
RTC has a neat compound with
well trimmed plants and lawns. The Centre is managed
by a twelve member Board of Governors including the
Director and an Internal Management Committee that
see to its day to day running. The Centre has about
five departments (Training, Accounts, Housekeeping,
Catering and Administration) that work in concert to
achieve its Mission and Vision.
Ecumenical Relations
RTC has ecumenical ties at
both local and international fronts. These include;
the Uniting Churches in the Netherlands, the
Presbyterian Church, USA, and the Evangelische
Arbeitskreis für Weltmission (Germany), and the
Evangelische Missionswerk Suedwesrdeutschland (EMS),
Germany.
The Centre is also a member
of the Association of Christian Lay Centres in
Africa (ACLCA) and OIKOSNET.
